حَدَّثَنَا عَبَّادُ بْنُ مُوسَى الْخُتَّلِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، عَنْ إِسْرَائِيلَ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ، عَنْ عَامِرٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبْزَى، عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرٍ الصِّدِّيقِ، قَالَ:

كُنْتُ عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ، فَأَتَاهُ مَاعِزُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ فَاعْتَرَفَ بِالزِّنَى، فَرَدَّهُ، ثُمَّ عَادَ الثَّانِيَةَ فَرَدَّهُ، ثُمَّ عَادَ الثَّالِثَةَ فَرَدَّهُ، فَقُلْتُ: إِنْ عُدْتَ الرَّابِعَةَ رَجَمَكَ، فَعَادَ الرَّابِعَةَ، فَأَمَرَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ بِحَبْسِهِ، ثُمَّ أَرْسَلَ فَسَأَلَ عَنْهُ، قَالُوا: لَا نَعْلَمُ إِلَّا خَيْرًا، فَأَمَرَ بِرَجْمِهِ

✧ I was with the Prophet ﷺ when Maʿiz b. Malik came to him and confessed to fornication. He sent him back. Then he came a second time and he sent him back. Then he came a third time and he sent him back. I said: 'If you come a fourth time, he will stone you.' So he came a fourth time, and the Prophet ﷺ ordered that he be detained. Then he sent someone to ask about him, and they said: 'We know nothing but good of him.' So he ordered that he be stoned.

    وهذا الحديث لا نعلم أحدا رواه عن أبي بكر إلا عبد الرحمن بن أبزى وهو رجل قد روى عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم غير حديث ولا نعلم رواه عن ابن أبزى إلا الشعبي ولا عن الشعبي إلا جابر وقد تكلم فيه أهل العلم ورووا عنه على أنهم قد قالوا فيه أشياء وروى عنه شعبة والثوري وزهير وشريك وأبو عوانة وابن عيينة وهشيم وإسرائيل وغيرهم فذكرنا هذا الحديث عن أبي بكر لجلالة أبي بكر وإن كان قد يروى عن غير أبي بكر هذا النحو في ترديد ماعز
