حَدَّثَنَا وَهْبٌ، أَخْبَرَنَا خَالِدٌ، عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، قَالَ:
كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ ذَاتَ لَيْلَةٍ يُصَلِّي فِي حُجْرَتِهِ، فَجَاءَ نَاسٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِهِ فَصَلَّوْا بِصَلَاتِهِ، قَالَ: فَدَخَلَ الْبَيْتَ ثُمَّ خَرَجَ فَعَادَ مِرَارًا، كُلُّ ذَلِكَ يُصَلِّي، فَلَمَّا أَصْبَحَ، قَالُوا: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، صَلَّيْنَا مَعَكَ، وَنَحْنُ نُحِبُّ أَنْ تَمُدَّ فِي صَلَاتِكَ، قَالَ: قَدْ عَلِمْتُ بِمَكَانِكُمْ، وَعَمْدًا فَعَلْتُ ذَلِكَ
Translation

✧ One night the Prophet ﷺ was praying in his room. Some of his companions came and prayed with his prayer. He entered the house and then came out and repeated that several times, each time praying. In the morning they said: O Messenger of God, we prayed with you and would like you to prolong your prayer. He said: I knew you were there, and I did that deliberately.
