حَدَّثَنَا زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ يَحْيَى، حَدَّثَنَا شَرِيكٌ، عَنْ سِمَاكٍ، عَنْ حَنَشٍ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ، قَالَ:
بَعَثَنِي رَسُولُ اللهِ إِلَى قَوْمٍ ذَوِي أَسْنَانٍ وَأَنَا حَدِيثُ السِّنِّ، فَقَالَ: إِذَا جَاءَكَ الْخَصْمَانِ فَلَا تَسْمَعْ مِنْ أَحَدِهِمَا حَتَّى تَسْمَعَ مِنَ الْآخَرِ، فَإِنَّهُ سَيُبِيرُ لَكَ الْقَضَاءَ، قَالَ: فَتَعَلَّمْتُ فَمَا زِلْتُ قَاضِيًا
Translation

✧ The Messenger of God sent me to people of mature age, while I was young in years. He said: "When the two disputants come to you, do not listen to one of them until you have heard from the other, for that will clarify the judgment for you." He said: "So I learned, and I have remained a judge ever since."
