✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came out to us one day angry, and we thought that Jibril ﷺ was with him, until he ascended the minbar. I have never seen a day with more weeping and veiling of faces. He said: "Ask me, for by Allah, you will not ask me about anything except that I will inform you of it." A man stood up and said: "O Messenger of Allah, who is my father?" He said: "Your father is Hudhafah, the one to whom you are attributed." Then another stood up to him and said: "O Messenger of Allah, am I in Paradise or in the Fire?" He said: "In the Fire." Then a man stood up to him and said: "O Messenger of Allah, is Hajj obligatory upon us every year?" He said: "If I said yes, it would become obligatory, and if it became obligatory, you would not be able to do it, and if you did not do it, you would be punished." Then 'Umar b. al-Khattab ؓ said: "We are pleased with Allah as Lord, with Islam as religion, and with Muhammad as Prophet. Do not disgrace us with our secrets, and pardon us, may Allah pardon you." He said: "Then he was relieved. Then he turned toward the wall and said: 'I have never seen a day like today in good and evil. Paradise and the Fire were shown to me behind this wall.'"
