✧ Some people of the Ansar said on the day of Hunayn, when God granted His Messenger spoils from the wealth of Hawazin, and the Messenger of God ﷺ began giving men of Quraysh a hundred camels each. They said: May God forgive the Messenger of God; he gives Quraysh and leaves us while our swords drip with their blood? Anas said: The Messenger of God ﷺ was told of their words, so he sent for the Ansar and gathered them in a leather tent, and he did not call anyone else with them. When they gathered, the Messenger of God ﷺ came to them and said: What is this talk that has reached me from you? The learned ones among the Ansar said: As for those of sound judgment among us, O Messenger of God, they said nothing, but some people among us who are young in age said: May God forgive the Messenger of God; he gives Quraysh and leaves us while our swords drip with their blood? The Messenger of God ﷺ said: I give to those who are new in Islam to win their hearts. Are you not pleased that the people go with wealth while you return to your homes with the Messenger of God? By God, what you return with is better than what they return with. They said: Yes, O Messenger of God, we are pleased. He said to them: You will find after me severe favoritism, so be patient until you meet God and His Messenger, for I will be at the Basin. Anas said: They said: Yes.
