✧ On the day of Hunayn, Hawazin and Ghatafan came with their children and cattle, and with the Prophet ﷺ were ten thousand, and with him were the freed ones. They turned away from him until he remained alone. He said: That day he called out twice without mixing anything between them. He turned to his right and said: 'O assembly of the Ansar.' They said: At your service, O Messenger of Allah, rejoice, we are with you. Then he turned to his left and said: 'O assembly of the Ansar.' They said: At your service, O Messenger of Allah, rejoice, we are with you. He said: And he was on a white mule. He dismounted and said: I am the servant of Allah and His Messenger. Then the polytheists were defeated, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ obtained much booty. He distributed it among the Muhajirun and the freed ones, and did not give the Ansar anything. The Ansar said: When there is hardship, we are there, but he gives the booty to others. That reached him, so he gathered them in a tent and said: 'O assembly of the Ansar, what is this talk that has reached me?' They remained silent. He said: 'O assembly of the Ansar, are you not pleased that the people go with sheep and you go with Muhammad ﷺ to your houses?' They said: We are pleased, O Messenger of Allah. He said: 'If the people were to go through a valley and the Ansar through a mountain pass, I would take the mountain pass of the Ansar.'
