حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، حَدَّثَنَا الزُّهْرِيُّ، سَمِعَ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ، يَقُولُ:
سَقَطَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مِنْ فَرَسٍ فَجُحِشَ شِقُّهُ الْأَيْمَنُ فَدَخَلْنَا نَعُودُهُ، فَحَضَرَتِ الصَّلَاةُ فَصَلَّى بِنَا قَاعِدًا، فَصَلَّيْنَا خَلْفَهُ قُعُودًا، فَلَمَّا قَضَى الصَّلَاةَ، قَالَ: إِنَّمَا جُعِلَ الْإِمَامُ لِيُؤْتَمَّ بِهِ، فَإِذَا كَبَّرَ فَكَبِّرُوا، وَإِذَا رَكَعَ فَارْكَعُوا، وَإِذَا سَجَدَ فَاسْجُدُوا، وَإِذَا قَالَ: سَمِعَ اللهُ لِمَنْ حَمِدَهُ، فَقُولُوا: رَبَّنَا لَكَ الْحَمْدُ، وَإِذَا صَلَّى قَاعِدًا فَصَلُّوا قُعُودًا أَجْمَعِينَ
Translation

✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ fell from a horse and injured his right side, so we entered to visit him. The prayer time came and he prayed sitting, and we prayed behind him sitting. When he finished the prayer, he said: The imam is appointed only to be followed, so when he says the takbir, say the takbir; when he bows, bow; when he prostrates, prostrate; when he says, 'God hears the one who praises Him,' say, 'Our Lord, to You be praise;' and when he prays sitting, pray sitting, all of you.
