✧ On the day of Hunayn, Hawazin and Ghatafan came with their riding animals and their cattle, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had ten thousand men with him, and with him were the released prisoners. They turned their backs on him until he remained alone. He called out twice that day with two calls between which nothing was mixed. He turned to his right and said: 'O company of the Ansar!' They said: 'At your service, O Messenger of Allah, we are with you.' He turned to his left and said: 'O company of the Ansar!' They said: 'At your service, O Messenger of Allah, we are with you.' He said: 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was on a white mule.' He said: 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ dismounted and said: "I am the servant of Allah and His Messenger." The polytheists fled, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ acquired much booty and divided it among the Muhajirun and the released prisoners, giving nothing to the Ansar. The Ansar said: "When there is hardship, we are called, but the booty is given to others." This reached him, so he gathered them in a tent and said: "O company of the Ansar, what is this talk that has reached me?" They were silent. He said: "O company of the Ansar, are you not content that the people go with this world while you go with Muhammad ﷺ to your homes?" They said: "Yes, O Messenger of Allah, we are content." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "If the people were to take a valley and the Ansar took a mountain pass, I would take the mountain pass of the Ansar."
