✧ I rode it until it carried me, until I came to the Sacred House (Jerusalem). I tied the animal to the ring to which the prophets tie it. Then I entered the mosque and prayed two rak'ahs in it. Then I came out, and Jibril came to me with a vessel of wine and a vessel of milk. I took the milk, and Jibril said to me: You have chosen the fitrah. He said: Then he ascended with us to the lowest heaven. Jibril asked for it to be opened, and it was said: Who are you? He said: Jibril. It was said: Who is with you? He said: Muhammad. It was said: Has he been sent for? He said: He has been sent for. So it was opened for us, and there I was with Adam. He welcomed me and supplicated for good for me. Then he ascended with us to the second heaven. Jibril asked for it to be opened, and it was said: Who are you? He said: Jibril. It was said: Who is with you? He said: Muhammad. It was said: Has he been sent for? He said: He has been sent for. So it was opened for us, and there I was with the two maternal cousins, Yahya and 'Isa. They welcomed me and supplicated for good for me. Then he ascended with us to the third heaven. Jibril asked for it to be opened, and it was said: Who are you? He said: Jibril. It was said: Who is with you? He said: Muhammad. It was said: Has he been sent for? He said: He has been sent for. So it was opened for us, and there I was with Yusuf, and he had been given half of all beauty. He welcomed me and supplicated for good for me. Then he ascended with us to the fourth heaven. Jibril asked for it to be opened, and it was said: Who are you? He said: Jibril. It was said: Who is with you? He said: Muhammad. It was said: Has he been sent for? He said: He has been sent for. So it was opened for us, and there I was with Idris. He welcomed me and supplicated for good for me. He said: Allah says: 'And We raised him to a high station' (19:57). Then he ascended with us to the fifth heaven. Jibril asked for it to be opened, and it was said: Who are you? He said: Jibril. It was said: Who is with you? He said: Muhammad. It was said: Has he been sent for? He said: He has been sent for. So it was opened for us, and there was Harun. He welcomed me and supplicated for good for me. Then he ascended with us to the sixth heaven. Jibril asked for it to be opened, and it was said: Who are you? He said: Jibril. It was said: Who is with you? He said: Muhammad. It was said: Has he been sent for? He said: He has been sent for. So it was opened for us, and there I was with Ibrahim, and he was leaning his back against the House, into which seventy thousand angels enter every day, then they do not return to it. Then he took me to the Lote Tree of the Utmost Boundary, and its leaves were like the ears of elephants and its fruits like large jars. When it was covered by what covered it of the command of Allah, it changed, and no one of Allah's creation can describe it because of its beauty. He said: Then it was revealed to me what was revealed, and fifty prayers were made obligatory upon me every day. He said: Then I descended to Musa, and he said: What did your Lord make obligatory upon your ummah? I said: Fifty prayers every day and night. He said: Your ummah cannot bear that. Go back to your Lord and ask Him for reduction. He said: So I went back to my Lord and said: O Lord, lighten it for my ummah. He reduced five from me. I returned to Musa, and he said: What did you do? I said: He reduced five from me. He said: Your ummah cannot bear that. Go back to your Lord and ask Him for reduction. I kept going back to my Lord and asking Him for reduction, between my Lord and Musa, until He said: O Muhammad, they are five prayers every day and night, for each prayer ten, so that is fifty prayers. And whoever intends a good deed but does not do it, one good deed is written for him; if he does it, ten are written. And whoever intends an evil deed but does not do it, nothing is against him; if he does it, one evil deed is written. So I returned to Musa and told him. He said: Go back to your Lord and ask Him for reduction. He said: I have gone back to my Lord until I felt ashamed.
