حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ، حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عُمَرَ، حَدَّثَنَا شَيْخٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْكُوفَةِ يُقَالُ لَهُ: أَبُو الْمُحَيَّاةِ التَّيْمِيُّ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو مَطَرٍ
أَنَّ عَلِيًّا، أَتَى أَصْحَابَ الثِّيَابِ، فَقَالَ لِرَجُلٍ: بِعْنِي قَمِيصًا بِثَلَاثَةِ دَرَاهِمَ، قَالَ: فَأَعْطَاهُ ثَوْبًا فَلَبِسَهُ مَا بَيْنَ كَعْبِهِ إِلَى رُصْغِهِ، فَلَمَّا لَبِسَهُ، قَالَ: الْحَمْدُ لِلهِ الَّذِي كَسَانِي مِنَ الرِّيَاشِ مَا أُوَارِي بِهِ عَوْرَتِي، وَأَتَجَمَّلُ بِهِ فِي النَّاسِ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ إِذَا لَبِسَ ثَوْبًا قَالَ هَكَذَا
Translation

✧ Ali came to the cloth sellers and said to a man: "Sell me a shirt for three dirhams." He gave him a garment, and he wore it, reaching from his ankle to his wrist. When he wore it, he said: "Praise be to Allah who has clothed me with fine clothing with which I cover my private parts and adorn myself among the people." Then he said: "When the Prophet ﷺ wore a garment, he said this."
