✧ This verse was sent down upon the Prophet ﷺ: “Indeed, We have granted you a clear victory,” upon his return from Ḥudaybiyyah, while he and his companions were still mingled with sorrow, and they had been prevented from their rites and had slaughtered the sacrificial animals at Ḥudaybiyyah. When this verse was sent down, he said to his companions: “A verse better than the whole world has been sent down to me.” When the Prophet of God ﷺ recited it, a man from the people said: “Congratulations, O Prophet of God! God has made clear what He will do with you, so what will He do with us?” Then God sent down after it: “That He may admit the believing men and the believing women into gardens beneath which rivers flow.”
