✧ Ibn Abbas came asking permission to enter upon A'ishah while she was dying. He said: I came and at her head was Abd Allah b. Abd al-Rahman b. Abi Bakr. I said: 'This is Ibn Abbas asking your permission.' She said: 'Leave me alone from Ibn Abbas, I have no need of him nor of his praise.' He said: Abd Allah said: 'O mother, Abd Allah b. Abbas is one of the righteous of your children, he wants to greet you.' She said: 'Let him in if you wish.' He said: Ibn Abbas came and sat down and said: 'Rejoice, for by Allah, between you and departing every hardship and meeting Muhammad and the loved ones there is only that your soul leaves your body.' She said: 'Is that so, O Ibn Abbas?' He said: 'You were the most beloved of the wives of the Messenger of Allah to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ loved only what was good. Your necklace fell on the day of al-Abwa', so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ remained in the camp picking it up, and the people woke up without any water. Allah, Blessed and Exalted, revealed that they should perform tayammum with clean earth. That was because of you, the concession Allah revealed for this nation. Then Allah revealed your innocence from above seven heavens, so there is no mosque among the mosques of Allah in which Allah is mentioned except that your innocence is recited in it during the hours of the night and the hours of the day.' She said: 'Leave me, O Ibn Abbas, for by Allah, I wish I were a thing forgotten, utterly forgotten.'
