✧ Abdullah b. al-Abbas came asking permission to enter upon A'ishah. So I came while her nephew, Abdullah b. Abd al-Rahman, was at her head. I said: This is Ibn Abbas asking permission. Her nephew, Abdullah, leaned over her and said: This is Abdullah b. Abbas asking permission while she is dying. She said: Leave me alone from Ibn Abbas. He said: O my mother, Ibn Abbas is one of the righteous of your sons. He greets you and bids you farewell. She said: Let him in if you wish. He said: So I brought him in. When he sat down, he said: Rejoice. She said: Again? He said: Between you and meeting Muhammad ﷺ and the loved ones, there is nothing but the soul departing the body. You were the most beloved of the wives of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to the Messenger of Allah, and the Messenger of Allah loved only what is good. Your necklace fell on the night of al-Abwa', so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stayed until morning in the camp, and the people woke up without water. Then Allah, Mighty and Majestic, sent down [the verse] that you should perform tayammum with clean earth. That was for your sake, and the concession that Allah, Mighty and Majestic, sent down for this nation. Allah sent down your innocence from above seven heavens, brought by the Trustworthy Spirit. So there is no mosque among the mosques of Allah in which Allah is remembered except that it is recited in it during the hours of the night and the hours of the day. She said: Leave me alone, O Ibn Abbas. By the One in Whose hand is my soul, I wish I had been something forgotten, utterly forgotten.
