✧ We were with the Prophet ﷺ on a military expedition, and we said: O Messenger of God, the enemy has arrived and they are well-fed while the people are hungry. The Ansar said: Shall we not slaughter our water-carrying camels and feed the people? The Prophet ﷺ said: Whoever has surplus food, let him bring it. So he began to bring a mudd, a sa', and more and less, and the total in the army was twenty-some sa's. The Prophet ﷺ sat beside it and invoked blessing, then said: Take, but do not plunder. A man would take in his provision bag and in his large sack, and they took in their vessels, until a man would tie the sleeve of his shirt and fill it. They finished and the food was as it was. Then the Prophet ﷺ said: I bear witness that there is no god but God and that I am the Messenger of God; no sincere servant comes with them but God protects him from the heat of the Fire.
