✧ I was with the Messenger of God ﷺ when this verse was revealed: “Whoever does evil will be recompensed for it and will not find for himself besides God any protector or helper.” The Prophet ﷺ said: O Abu Bakr, shall I recite to you a verse that was revealed to me? I said: Yes, O Messenger of God. He said: So he recited it to me. He said: I do not know except that I felt a cracking in my back, so much so that I stretched for it. The Messenger of God ﷺ said: As for you, O Abu Bakr, and your believing companions, you will be recompensed for that in this world until you meet God with no sins. As for the others, it will be gathered for them until they are recompensed for it on the Day of Resurrection.

machine translationWe do not know of anyone who narrated this hadith with this wording except Abū Bakr, and we do not know of any chain for it from Abū Bakr other than this chain. The freed slave (mawlā) of Ibn Sibāʿ is unknown (majhūl), and we do not know that anyone narrated from him except Mūsā b. ʿUbaydah. As for Mūsā, there was no harm in him, but he was not a retainer of hadith (ḥāfiẓ), though the people of knowledge have narrated from him.
