✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ delivered a sermon while he was on a she-camel, and I was beneath its neck, and it was chewing its cud, and its saliva was flowing between my shoulders. He said: "O people, God has given every possessor of a right his right. So there is no bequest for an heir; the child belongs to the bed, and for the adulterer is the stone. Whoever claims descent from other than his father, or affiliates himself with other than his patrons out of aversion to them, upon him is the curse of God, the angels, and all the people. God will not accept from him any turning away or any just compensation."

machine translationAl-Shāfiʿī inclined in al-Umm to the view that this text is mass-transmitted (mutawātir), and said: "We found the people of legal rulings, and those of the people of knowledge of the military expeditions (maghāzī) among Quraysh and others whom we have memorized from, not disagreeing that the Prophet ﷺ said in the year of the Conquest: 'There is no bequest for an heir.' And they transmit it from those of the people of knowledge whom they met and from whom they memorized it. So it is a transmission of the many from the many, and it is stronger than the transmission of a single person."

machine translationAl-Fakhr al-Rāzī disputed that this hadith is mass-transmitted (mutawātir).

machine translationThe chain of each of them is not free of criticism, but their totality indicates that the hadith has a basis.
