✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ addressed us while he was on his she-camel and said: "Indeed charity is not lawful for me or for my household." He took a hair from the shoulder of his she-camel and said: "Nor what equals this," or "what weighs this." "May Allah curse whoever claims attribution to other than his father or takes as patrons other than his masters. The child belongs to the bed, and the stone is for the adulterer. Indeed Allah has given every rightful person his right, and there is no bequest for an heir."

  • Shafiʿī

machine translationAl-Shāfiʿī inclined in al-Umm to the view that this text is mass-transmitted (mutawātir), and said: "We found the people of legal rulings, and those of the people of knowledge of the military expeditions (maghāzī) among Quraysh and others whom we have memorized from, not disagreeing that the Prophet ﷺ said in the year of the Conquest: 'There is no bequest for an heir.' And they transmit it from those of the people of knowledge whom they met and from whom they memorized it. So it is a transmission of the many from the many, and it is stronger than the transmission of a single person."

    in مسند أحمد, p. 17871

machine translationAl-Fakhr al-Rāzī disputed that this hadith is mass-transmitted (mutawātir).

    in مسند أحمد, p. 17871
  • Ibn Ḥajar al-ʿAsqalānī

machine translationThe chain of each of them is not free of criticism, but their totality indicates that the hadith has a basis.

    in مسند أحمد, p. 17871
  • Abū Ḥatim al-Rāzī

machine translationWhich of the two is more sound (aṣaḥḥ)? He said: "From ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. Ghanm is more sound (aṣaḥḥ)."

    in مسند أحمد, p. 17871
