✧ A man from those who came before was granted wealth and children by God. When death came to him, he called his sons and said, 'What kind of father was I to you?' They said, 'The best father.' He said, 'By God, he never did any good for God. So when I die, burn me until I am charcoal, then crush me, then scatter me on a windy day.' He said: And the Prophet of God ﷺ said, 'He took their covenant on that, by my Lord, and they did it, by my Lord: when he died they burned him until he was charcoal, crushed him, then scattered him on a windy day.' He said: Then his Lord said to him, 'Be,' and he was a man standing. His Lord said to him, 'What made you do what you did?' He said, 'Lord, I feared Your punishment.' He said: By the One in whose hand is the soul of Muhammad, He did not overlook him at that point but forgave him.
