أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ مَوْلَى ثَقِيفٍ حَدَّثَنَا عُقْبَةُ بْنُ مُكْرَمٍ حَدَّثَنَا صَفْوَانُ بْنُ عِيسَى حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ عَجْلَانَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ

ذَبَحْتُ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ «نَاوِلْنِي الذِّرَاعَ» فَنَاوَلْتُهُ ثُمَّ قَالَ «نَاوِلْنِي الذِّرَاعَ» فَنَاوَلْتُهُ ثُمَّ قَالَ «نَاوِلْنِي الذِّرَاعَ» قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّمَا لِلشَّاةِ ذِرَاعَانِ قَالَ «أَمَا إِنَّكَ لَوِ ابْتَغَيْتَهُ لَوَجَدْتَهُ»

Translation

✧ I slaughtered an animal for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he said, "Hand me the foreleg." I handed it to him. Then he said, "Hand me the foreleg." I handed it to him. Then he said, "Hand me the foreleg." I said, "O Messenger of Allah, a sheep has only two forelegs." He said, "If you had looked for it, you would have found it."
