What scholars said about it

In their own words, as Hadith Unlocked records them. They are shown, not summarised into a grade.

  • Abū Daʾūd

machine translationMūsā did not mention "from Ibn ʿAbbās".

  • Ibn Ḥajar al-ʿAsqalānī

machine translationThe narration of Mūsā b. Ismāʿīl is disconnected (mursal), while the narration of Wahb b. Jarīr is connected (mawṣūl). Mūsā did not mention Ibn ʿAbbās in his narration, but rather narrated it as mursal.

  • al-Bukhari

machine translational-Bukhārī did not regard this narration of Mūsā b. Ismāʿīl as a defect (ʿillah), because Wahb b. Jarīr connected it and he was better acquainted with his father's hadith than others, and because he is not inferior to Mūsā in memorization, and because the basis of the hadith is known from Ibn ʿAbbās.
