✧ They were traveling with Salim b. 'Ubayd al-Ashja'i when a man sneezed and said, "Peace be upon you!" Salim said, "And upon you and upon your mother!" Then he traveled for a while, and said to the man, "Perhaps you disliked what I said to you?" He said, "I wish you had not mentioned my mother either with good or with evil!" He said, "I only tell you what I witnessed from the Messenger of God ﷺ: A man sneezed in his presence and said, 'Peace be upon you!' The Messenger of God ﷺ said, 'And upon you and upon your mother. When one of you sneezes, let him say: Praise be to God, Lord of the worlds, or Praise be to God in every situation, and let his brother say to him: May God have mercy on you, and let him say: May God forgive me and you.'"
