حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرُ بْنُ حَازِمٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي الزُّبَيْرُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ. قَالَ أَبُو دَاوُدَ: وَسَمِعْتُ شَيْخًا بِمَكَّةَ فَقَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، عَنْ نَافِعِ بْنِ عُجَيْرٍ، عَنْ رُكَانَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ يَزِيدَ، قَالَ:

كَانَتْ عِنْدِي امْرَأَةٌ يُقَالُ لَهَا سُهَيَّةُ، فَطَلَّقْتُهَا أَلْبَتَّةَ، فَجِئْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَقُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، إِنِّي طَلَّقْتُ سُهَيَّةَ أَلْبَتَّةَ، وَاللهِ مَا أَرَدْتُ إِلَّا وَاحِدَةً ! قَالَ: آللهِ مَا أَرَدْتَ إِلَّا وَاحِدَةً ؟ "، قُلْتُ: آللهِ مَا أَرَدْتُ إِلَّا وَاحِدَةً ! قَالَ: " آللهِ مَا أَرَدْتَ إِلَّا وَاحِدَةً ؟ "، قُلْتُ: آللهِ مَا أَرَدْتُ إِلَّا وَاحِدَةً ! فَرَدَّهَا عَلَيَّ عَلَى وَاحِدَةٍ

✧ I had a wife called Suhayya, and I divorced her with an irrevocable divorce. I came to the Messenger of God ﷺ and said: O Messenger of God, I divorced Suhayya with an irrevocable divorce, and by God I only intended one [divorce]. He said: By God, did you only intend one? I said: By God, I only intended one. He said: By God, did you only intend one? I said: By God, I only intended one. So he returned her to me as [revocable with] one [divorce].
