✧ I sat with Ka'b b. 'Ujrah in this mosque and asked him about God's saying, Mighty and Majestic: "Then a ransom of fasting or charity or sacrifice." He said, "It was revealed concerning me. I was carried to the Messenger of God ﷺ while lice were falling on my face. He said, 'I did not think the hardship had reached you to what I see! Slaughter a sheep.' I said, 'I cannot find one.' So it was revealed: 'Then a ransom of fasting'—three days—'or feeding six poor people half a saa'. It was revealed specifically about me, but it is general for you."
