✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ saw me while my lice were falling on my face. He said: 'Are these vermin of yours harming you?' I said: 'Yes.' He said: So he ordered me to shave, while they were at al-Hudaybiyah and it had not been made clear to them that they would shave there, and they were hoping to enter Makkah. Then Allah revealed the ransom, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered me to feed a faraq among six poor persons, or fast three days, or slaughter a sheep.

In their own words, as Hadith Unlocked records them. They are shown, not summarised into a grade.

  • Ibn Ḥazm

machine translationThe sound report of Kaʿb b. ʿUjrah is what Ibn Abī Laylā narrated, while the narrations of the others are unsettled (muḍṭarib) and mistaken. It is therefore obligatory to abandon what is unsettled in it and to return to the narration of ʿAbd al-Raḥmān, which is not unsettled.
