✧ The Prophet ﷺ passed by him while he was lighting a fire under a clay pot – or he said: under a cooking pot – and lice were falling on his face. The Prophet ﷺ said to him, “Are these troubling you?” He said, “Yes, O Messenger of God.” Then was revealed: “a ransom of fasting or charity or ritual sacrifice.” The Prophet ﷺ commanded him while they were at al-Hudaybiyyah, and he had not made clear to them that they would shave their heads there, for they were still hoping to enter Makkah. Then God, Mighty and Majestic, sent down the ransom, and the Prophet ﷺ commanded him to shave and fast three days, or feed a faraq among six poor people, or sacrifice a sheep.
