حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَّامٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ الْأَزْرَقِ، عَنْ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ عَامِرٍ، قَالَ: قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ:

" ارْمُوا وَارْكَبُوا، وَأَنْ تَرْمُوا أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ مِنْ أَنْ تَرْكَبُوا، وَكُلُّ شَيْءٍ يَلْهُو بِهِ الرَّجُلُ بَاطِلٌ إِلَّا رَمْيَ الرَّجُلِ بِقَوْسِهِ أَوْ تَأْدِيبَهُ فَرَسَهُ أَوْ مُلَاعَبَتَهُ امْرَأَتَهُ فَإِنَّهُنَّ مِنَ الْحَقِّ، وَمَنْ تَرَكَ الرَّمْيَ بَعْدَمَا عَلِمَهُ فَقَدْ كَفَرَ الَّذِي عَلِمَهُ

Translation

✧ Shoot and ride, but that you shoot is more beloved to me than that you ride. Everything a man amuses himself with is false except his shooting with his bow, training his horse, or playing with his wife, for these are from truth. Whoever abandons archery after having learned it has disbelieved in what he learned.
