حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ حَبِيبٍ الطَّرَائِفِيُّ الرَّقِّيُّ ثنا أَيُّوبُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْوَزَّانُ ثنا عُرْوَةُ بْنُ مَرْوَانَ الْعِرْقِيُّ عَنِ الرَّبِيعِ بْنِ بَدْرٍ عَنْ عَاصِمٍ عَنْ زِرٍّ عَنْ صَفْوَانَ بْنِ عَسَّالٍ قَالَ
خَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَلَيْنَا فَأَنْشَأَ يُحَدِّثُنَا «إِنَّ لِلتَّوْبَةِ بَابًا عَرْضُ مَا بَيْنَ مِصْرَاعَيْهِ مَا بَيْنَ الْمَشْرِقِ وَالْمَغْرِبِ لَا يُغْلَقُ حَتَّى تَطْلُعَ الشَّمْسُ مِنْ مَغْرِبِهَا» ثُمَّ قَرَأَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ {يَوْمَ يَأْتِي بَعْضُ آيَاتِ رَبِّكَ لَا يَنْفَعُ نَفْسًا إِيمَانُهَا لَمْ تَكُنْ آمَنَتْ مِنْ قَبْلُ أَوْ كَسَبَتْ فِي إِيمَانِهَا خَيْرًا}
Translation

- Muḥammad b. ʿAlī b. Ḥabīb al-Ṭarāʾifī
✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ came out to us and began to tell us: “Indeed, repentance has a gate whose width between its two doorposts is the distance between east and west; it will not be closed until the sun rises from its west.” Then the Messenger of God ﷺ recited: {On the day when some of your Lord’s signs come, no soul will benefit from its faith if it had not believed before or earned good in its faith.}
