✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ, when he woke up in the morning, would say: "Has any of you seen a dream?" and he would interpret it for him, until one day he woke up and said: "Has anyone of you seen a dream?" The people were silent, so he said: "But I myself saw in sleep: two men came to me and said: 'Go.' I passed by a man with a rock in his hand, striking the head of another man with it and scattering his brains. The rock returned to his hand and the head returned as it was. I said: 'What is this?' They said: 'Go.' Then I passed by a man with an iron hook in his hand, tearing the cheek of another man until it reached the back, then he started on the other side, and this one returned as it was. I said: 'What is this?' They said to me: 'Go.' Then I passed by a man in a river of blood, and he was bridled, and on the bank of the river was a man kindling a fire with stones in it. Whenever he wanted to come out, he took a stone and threw it into his mouth, and he returned. I said: 'What is this?' They said to me: 'Go.' Then they took me past a house whose lower part was narrower than its upper part, in which were naked people, with fire kindled beneath them. Whenever it was kindled, they cried out, and when it was extinguished, they became quiet. I said: 'What is this?' They said to me: 'Go.' Then they took me past a tree under which a man was kindling a fire and tending it; when it scattered, he gathered it together. I said: 'What is this?' They said to me: 'Go,' until they brought me to the middle of a tree, and there were beautiful dwellings. I said: 'What is this?' They said to me: 'Go.' So they took me until they brought me to the top of the tree, and there were dwellings more beautiful than those, and three chambers. I said: 'What is this?' They said: 'Take your time. As for the one with the rock striking the man's head, those are those who sleep through the prayer.' Ibn 'Abbas said: 'This is the one who was given knowledge but it awakens him.' 'As for the man you saw with a hook tearing the cheek of a man, those are those who go about with malicious gossip. As for the one you saw in a river of blood, those are the consumers of usury. As for those you saw in a house whose lower part is narrower than its upper part, naked people, those are the fornicators of the nation, and so they will be until the Day of Resurrection. As for the man you saw under the tree kindling a fire and tending it, that is Malik, the keeper of the Fire. As for the dwellings you saw in the middle of the tree, those are the dwellings of the believers in general, and these are the dwellings of the prophets, the truthful, and the martyrs, and this chamber is for you. I am Jibril, and this is Mika'il.'"
