✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ, whenever he woke up in the morning, would say to his companions: "Has any of you seen a dream?" One day he woke up and said: "I saw as if two came to me and said: 'Go, go.' So I went with them until they brought me to an old man with white hair and beard, gloomy and sad, with a fire that he was stoking and tending. I said: 'May Allah bless you both, who is this old man and what is this fire?' They said to me: 'Go, go.' So I went with them until they brought me to a man, and another man standing at his head with an iron hook in his hand. He was tearing his mouth to the back of his neck, his nostril to the back of his neck, and his eye to the back of his neck, then he did the same to the other side. He would not finish until that side returned to the healthiest it had been. I said: 'May Allah bless you both, what are these two men?' They said to me: 'Go, go.' So I went with them until they brought me to a man lying on his back, and another standing at his head with a rock in his hand, smashing his head with it. The rock rolled away, he went and took it, and did not return to his companion until his head returned to the healthiest it had been, then he did the same again. I said: 'May Allah bless you both, what are these two?' They said: 'Go, go.' So I went with them until they brought me to something like a pool, and in it a man was swimming, and a man standing on the edge of the pool with a rock in his hand. The swimmer would come, open his mouth, and the man would put that rock in it. I said: 'May Allah bless you both, what are these two?' They said to me: 'Go, go.' So I went with them until they brought me to something like an oven, and in it were men and women. Flames came at them from below and they cried out. I said: 'May Allah bless you both, who are these?' They said to me: 'Go, go.' So I went with them until they brought me to a white land like silver, in which was every spring flower, and a man with white hair and beard, the most beautiful man you could see, with children around him, gathering them and tending to them. I said: 'May Allah bless you both, who is this old man and who are these children?' They said to me: 'Go, go.' So I went with them until they brought me to a white land like silver, in which a river flowed. People came, half of whose bodies were the most beautiful you could see and half the ugliest you could see. They entered that river as if commanded, and came out of it as if anointed with oil. I said: 'May Allah bless you both, who are these?' They said: 'Go, go.' So I went with them until they brought me to the Lote Tree of the Utmost Boundary, and it is the Garden of Eden, and that is your abode. I said: 'May Allah bless you both, let me enter it.' They said: 'No, but you will enter it.' I said: 'May Allah bless you both, I have seen wonders since last night.' They said: 'We will tell you. The one with white hair and beard is Malik, the keeper of Hell. The one you saw whose mouth, nostril, and eye were torn to the back of his neck is a man who leaves his house and tells a lie that spreads across the horizons. The one you saw whose head was smashed and left like a loaf of bread is the slanderer. The one you saw in the pool being fed a stone is the man who consumes the orphan's wealth. The ones you saw in the thing like an oven are the adulteresses and fornicators. The one with white hair and beard is Ibrahim, the Friend of Allah, and the children you saw are the children of the Muslims, and every child is born upon the natural disposition. As for those you saw with half their bodies the most beautiful and half the ugliest, they are people who did a righteous deed and another evil one, and Allah will forgive them.'"
