حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ مُسَاوِرٍ الْجَوْهَرِيُّ ثنا عَفَّانُ وَحَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ ثنا هُدْبَةُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ قَالَا ثنا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ عَنْ سَمُرَةَ بْنِ جُنْدُبٍ قَالَ
«كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَسْكُتُ سَكْتَتَيْنِ إِذَا دَخَلَ فِي الصَّلَاةِ وَإِذَا فَرَغَ مِنَ الْقِرَاءَةِ» فَأَنْكَرَ ذَلِكَ عِمْرَانُ بْنُ حُصَيْنٍ فَكَتَبُوا فِي ذَلِكَ إِلَى أُبَيِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ فَكَتَبَ إِلَيْهِمْ أَنْ صَدَقَ سَمُرَةُ

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to pause twice: when he entered the prayer, and when he finished the recitation. Imran b. Husayn rejected that, so they wrote about it to Ubayy b. Kaʿb, and he wrote back to them that Samurah spoke the truth.
