✧ From the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, he said: “While I and a boy from the Ansar were shooting at two targets of ours in the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, the sun rose and was in the eye of the beholder about a spear or two spears from the horizon, then darkened until it became like a colocynth. One of us said to his companion: 'Come with us to the mosque of the Prophet ﷺ, for by Allah, he will surely speak to us today about the matter of this sun regarding his Ummah.' We went to the mosque and met the Messenger of Allah ﷺ as he came out to the people. He came forward and prayed. He stood with us for the longest standing he ever stood with us in prayer, and we heard no voice from him. Then he bowed with us for the longest bowing he ever bowed with us in prayer, and we heard no voice from him. Then he prostrated with us for the longest prostration he ever prostrated with us in prayer, and we heard no voice from him. Then he stood and led us in another rak'ah like it. Then he sat, and his sitting coincided with the clearing of the sun. He said the taslim and turned around, praised Allah and extolled Him. Then he said: 'O people, I remind you by Allah: if you know that I have conveyed the message of my Lord, then tell me. And if you know that I have fallen short in conveying anything of the message of my Lord, then tell me.' They said: 'We bear witness that you have conveyed the message of your Lord, advised your Ummah, and fulfilled what was upon you.' Then he said: 'To proceed: some men claim that the eclipse of this sun and the eclipse of this moon and the disappearance of stars from their rising places is due to the death of great men of the people of the earth. They have lied. But they are only signs of Allah by which He causes His servants to take heed, to see who among them will turn in repentance. By Allah, I saw what you will encounter in the affairs of your world and your Hereafter from the time I stood to pray. By Allah, the Hour will not come until thirty liars appear, the last of whom is the one-eyed Dajjal, with his left eye effaced, resembling the eye of Abu Yahya, an old man of the Ansar who lived between him and the room of Aisha. Whenever he emerges, he will claim that he is Allah. Whoever believes in him and affirms him, no righteous deed he did before will benefit him. Whoever disbelieves in him and fights him, he will not be punished for any deed he did before. He will appear over all the earth except the Haram and Bayt al-Maqdis. He will drive the people to Bayt al-Maqdis, and they will be besieged with a severe siege.'” He said: “And I think he said: 'Isa b. Maryam will appear among them and kill him and his armies, until the stone or the base of a wall will call out: O Muslim, or O believer, here is a disbeliever hiding behind me, come and kill him. That will not happen until you see great matters whose gravity grows in your souls, and you ask among yourselves: Did your Prophet ﷺ mention anything of them to you?' Then he said: 'Immediately after that comes the seizing.'”
