✧ Abu Mahdhurah said: I went out with ten youths with the Prophet ﷺ to Hunayn, and they were the most hateful people to us. They called the adhan, and we stood mocking them. The Prophet ﷺ said, "Bring me these youths." Then he said, "Call the adhan." They called the adhan, and I was the last of them. The Prophet ﷺ said, "Yes, this is the one whose voice I heard. Go and call the adhan for the people of Makkah, and tell 'Attab b. Asid that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded me to call the adhan for the people of Makkah." He wiped his forelock and said: Say: "Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar; Ashhadu an la ilaha illa Allah, Ashhadu an la ilaha illa Allah twice; then go back and say: Ashhadu an la ilaha illa Allah, Ashhadu an la ilaha illa Allah twice; Ashhadu anna Muhammadan rasul Allah, Ashhadu anna Muhammadan rasul Allah twice; Hayya 'ala al-salah twice; Hayya 'ala al-falah twice; Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar; La ilaha illa Allah. And when you call the adhan for the first prayer of the morning, say: Al-salahu khayrun mina al-nawm, al-salahu khayrun mina al-nawm. And when you pronounce the iqamah, say twice: Qad qamat al-salah. Did you hear?" Abu Mahdhurah did not cut his forelock or comb it because the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had wiped over it. Abu al-Qasim 'Uthman, from whom Ibn Jurayj narrated this hadith, is 'Uthman b. al-Sa'ib, the mawla of Banu Jumah.
