حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ زُهَيْرٍ التُّسْتَرِيُّ ثنا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْوَرَّاقُ الْوَاسِطِيُّ ثنا خَالِدُ بْنُ مَخْلَدٍ حَدَّثَنِي يَزِيدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ النَّوْفَلِيُّ عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ خُصَيْفَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ السَّائِبِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ قَالَ
لَقِيَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ جَوَارِيَ يَتَغَنَّيْنَ يَقُلْنَ تُحَيُّونَا نُحَيِّيكُمْ فَوَقَفَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ ثُمَّ دَعَاهُنَّ فَقَالَ لَا تَقُولُوا هَكَذَا وَلَكِنْ قُولُوا حَيَّانَا وَإِيَّاكُمْ فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَتُرَخِّصُ لِلنَّاسِ فِي هَذَا؟ قَالَ «نَعَمْ إِنَّهُ نِكَاحٌ لَا سِفَاحٌ أَشِيدُوا بِالنِّكَاحِ»

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ encountered some slave girls singing, saying: "You greet us, we greet you." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ stopped, then called them and said: "Do not say that, but say: 'May He give us life and you.'" A man said: "O Messenger of Allah, do you permit people to do this?" He said: "Yes, for it is marriage, not fornication. Proclaim the marriage."
