يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَخْبِرْنَا عَنْ دِينِنَا هَذَا كَأَنَّنَا خُلِقْنَا لَهُ السَّاعَةَ؟ فِي أَيِّ شَيْءٍ نَعْمَلُ؟ أَفِي شَيْءٍ تَثْبُتُ فِيهِ الْمَقَادِيرُ وَجَرَتْ فِيهِ الْأَقْلَامُ أَمْ فِي أَمْرٍ مُسْتَأْنَفٍ؟ قَالَ «بَلْ فِيمَا تَثْبُتُ فِيهِ الْأَقْلَامُ» قَالَ سُرَاقَةُ فَفِيمَ الْعَمَلُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ؟ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «اعْمَلُوا فَكُلُّ عَامِلٍ مُيَسَّرٌ لِمَا خُلِقَ لَهُ» وَقَرَأَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ هَذِهِ الْآيَةَ {فَأَمَّا مَنْ أَعْطَى وَاتَّقَى وَصَدَّقَ بِالْحُسْنَى} بِلَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ {فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُ لِلْيُسْرَى وَأَمَّا مَنْ بَخِلَ وَاسْتَغْنَى وَكَذَّبَ بِالْحُسْنَى} قَالَ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ {فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُ لِلْعُسْرَى }

✧ O Messenger of God, tell us about this religion of ours, as though we were created for it just now. In what thing do we act? Is it concerning something in which the decrees are fixed and the pens have run, or concerning a newly initiated matter? He said, "Rather, concerning what the pens have fixed." Suraqah said, Then what is the point of deeds, O Messenger of God? The Messenger of God ﷺ said, "Act, for every worker is facilitated toward what he was created for." Then the Messenger of God ﷺ recited this verse: {As for him who gives and fears, and confirms the best} with "there is no god but God" {We will ease him toward ease. But as for him who is miserly and considers himself self-sufficient, and denies the best} he said, "there is no god but God" {We will ease him toward hardship}.
