حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ وَعُبَيْدُ بْنُ غَنَّامٍ قَالَا ثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ هَاشِمٍ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ
قَدِمَ سُرَاقَةُ بْنُ مَالِكِ بْنِ جُعْشُمٍ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ حَدِّثْنَا عَنْ عُمْرَتِنَا هَذِهِ لِعَامِنَا هَذَا أَمْ لِلْأَبَدِ؟ قَالَ «بَلْ لِلْأَبَدِ» قَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَخْبِرْنَا عَنْ أَعْمَالِنَا كَأَنَّمَا خُلِقْنَا السَّاعَةَ شَيْءٌ ثَبَتَ بِهِ الْكِتَابُ وَجَرَتْ بِهِ الْمَقَادِيرُ؟ أَوْ شَيْءٌ نَسْتَأْنِفُهُ؟ قَالَ «لَا بَلْ شَيْءٌ ثَبَتَ بِهِ الْكِتَابُ وَجَرَتْ بِهِ الْمَقَادِيرُ» فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ فَفِيمَ الْعَمَلُ؟ قَالَ «اعْمَلُوا فَكُلٌّ مُيَسَّرٌ لِمَا خُلِقَ لَهُ»

✧ Suraqah b. Malik b. Ju'shum came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, O Messenger of God, tell us about this umrah of ours: is it for this year of ours or forever? He said, "Rather, forever." He said, O Messenger of God, tell us about our deeds, as though we were created just now: is it something for which the book is fixed and the decrees have run, or something we initiate anew? He said, "No, rather it is something for which the book is fixed and the decrees have run." He said, O Messenger of God, then what is the point of deeds? He said, "Act, for everyone is facilitated toward what he was created for."
