حَدَّثَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ حَفْصٍ السَّدُوسِيُّ وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى الْمَرْوَزِيُّ قَالَا ثنا عَاصِمُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ ثنا ابْنُ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ أَنَّ عُوَيْمِرًا جَاءَ إِلَى عَاصِمِ بْنِ عَدِيٍّ فَقَالَ

أَرَأَيْتَ رَجُلًا وَجَدَ مَعَ امْرَأَتِهِ رَجُلًا فَيَقْتُلُهُ فَتَقْتُلُونَهُ بِهِ سَلْ يَا عَاصِمُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَجَاءَ عَاصِمٌ فَسَأَلَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَكَرِهَ الْمَسَائِلَ وَعَابَهَا فَرَجَعَ فَأَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ كَرِهَ الْمَسَائِلَ وَعَابَهَا فَقَالَ عُوَيْمِرٌ فَوَاللهِ لَآتِيَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَجَاءَ وَقَدْ أُنْزِلَ الْقُرْآنُ خَلْفَ عَاصِمٍ فَسَأَلَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «قَدْ أُنْزِلَ فِيكُمْ قُرْآنٌ» فَدَعَاهُمَا فَتَقَدَّمَا فَتَلَاعَنَا ثُمَّ قَالَ كَذَبْتُ عَلَيْهَا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنْ أَمْسَكْتُهَا فَفَارَقَهَا وَمَا أَمَرَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ بِفِرَاقِهَا فَجَرَتْ سُنَّةُ الْمُتلَاعِنَيْنِ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «انْظُرُوا فَإِنْ جَاءَتْ بِهِ أَحْمَرَ قَصِيرًا مِثْلَ الْوَحْرَةِ فَلَا أُرَاهُ إِلَّا قَدْ كَذَبَ عَلَيْهَا وَإِنْ جَاءَتْ بِهِ أَسْحَمَ أَعْيَنَ ذَا أَلْيَتَيْنِ فَلَا أَحْسَبُهُ إِلَّا قَدْ صَدَقَ عَلَيْهَا» فَجَاءَتْ بِهِ عَلَى الْأَمْرِ الْمَكْرُوهِ

✧ "What do you think about a man who finds another man with his wife? Should he kill him, and then you would kill him for it? Ask the Prophet ﷺ, O 'Asim." So 'Asim went and asked the Prophet ﷺ, and he disliked such questions and criticized them. He returned and told him that the Prophet ﷺ disliked such questions and criticized them. 'Uwaymir said, "By Allah, I will definitely go to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ." He went, and Quran had been revealed after 'Asim's visit. He asked the Prophet ﷺ, and the Prophet ﷺ said, "Quran has been revealed concerning you." So he called them both, and they came forward and invoked curses on each other. Then he said, "I have lied against her, O Messenger of Allah, if I keep her." So he parted from her, and the Prophet ﷺ did not command him to part from her. Thus the sunna of the two who invoke curses was established. The Prophet ﷺ said, "Look, if she gives birth to a red, short child like a small lizard, then I think he has lied against her; but if she gives birth to a black, large-eyed child with large buttocks, then I think he has told the truth against her." She gave birth to the disliked description."
