حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ ثنا مِنْجَابُ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُسْهِرٍ عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ ثُمَامَةَ بْنِ عُقْبَةَ عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَرْقَمَ قَالَ

جَاءَ رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْكِتَابِ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ يَا أَبَا الْقَاسِمِ تَزْعُمُ أَنَّ أَهْلَ الْجَنَّةِ يَأْكُلُونَ وَيَشْرَبُونَ فَإِنَّ الَّذِي يَأْكُلُ وَيَشْرَبُ تَكُونُ لَهُ الْحَاجَةُ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «حَاجَةُ أَحَدِهِمْ عَرَقٌ يُفِيضُ مِنْ جِلْدِهِ فَإِذَا بَطْنُهُ قَدْ ضَمُرَ»

✧ A man from the People of the Book came to the Messenger of God ﷺ and said, "O Abu al-Qasim, you claim that the people of Paradise eat and drink. But one who eats and drinks has a need." The Messenger of God ﷺ said, "The need of one of them is sweat that flows from his skin, and then his belly becomes lean."
