al-Mu'jam al-Kabir (al-Tabarani) 4666

✧ Zaid bin Haritha bin Sharahil bin Ka'ab bin Abdul Uzza bin Yazid bin Amr al-Qays al-Kalbi, the freed slave of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , martyred on the Day of Mu'tah in the 8th year.

حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الرَّازِيُّ ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ عِيسَى التَّنُوخِيُّ ثنا زِيَادُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ فُرَاتٍ الْقَزَّازُ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ جَدِّهِ عَنْ أَبِي الطُّفَيْلِ عَامِرِ بْنِ وَاثِلَةَ عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ حَارِثَةَ قَالَ

كُنْتُ غُلَامًا عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ ذَاتَ يَوْمٍ «انْطَلِقُوا بِنَا إِلَى إِنْسَانٍ قَدْ رَأَيْنَا شَأْنَهُ» قَالَ فَانْطَلَقَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَمْشِي وَأَصْحَابُهُ مَعَهُ حَتَّى دَخَلُوا بَيْنَ حَائِطَيْنِ فِي زُقَاقٍ طَوِيلٍ فَانْتَهَوْا إِلَى بَابٍ صَغِيرٍ فِي أَقْصَى الزُّقَاقِ فَدَخَلُوا إِلَى دَارٍ فَلَمْ يَرَوْا فِي الدَّارِ أَحَدًا غَيْرَ امْرَأَةٍ وَاحِدَةٍ وَإِذَا قِرْبَةٌ عَظِيمَةٌ مَلْأَى مَاءً فَقَالُوا نَرَى قِرْبَةً وَلَا نَرَى حَامِلَهَا كَلِّمُوا الْمَرْأَةَ فَأَشَارَتِ إِلَى قَطِيفَةٍ فِي نَاحِيَةِ الدَّارِ فَقَالَتِ انْظُرُوا إِلَى مَا تَحْتَ الْقَطِيفَةِ فَكَشَفُوها فَإِذَا تَحْتَهَا إِنْسَانٌ فَرَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ فَقَالَ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «شَاهَ الْوَجْهُ» فَقَالَ يَا مُحَمَّدُ لِمَ تَفَحَّشُ عَلَيَّ؟ فَقَالَ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «قَدْ خَبَأْتُ لَكَ خَبْأً فَأَخْبِرْنِي مَا هُوَ؟» وَقَالَ لِأَصْحَابِهِ إِنِّي قَدْ خَبَأْتُ لَهُ سُورَةَ الدُّخَانِ فَقَالَ دُخٌّ فَقَالَ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «اخْسَأْ مَا شَاءَ اللهُ كَانَ» ثُمَّ انْصَرَفَ

✧ I was a young boy during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. One day the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Let us go to a person whose situation we have seen." He said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ went walking, and his companions with him, until they entered between two walls in a long alley. They stopped at a small door at the far end of the alley and entered a house. They saw no one in the house except a single woman, and there was a large water skin full of water. They said: We see a water skin but we do not see its carrier. Speak to the woman. She pointed to a velvet cloth in a corner of the house and said: Look under the velvet cloth. They uncovered it, and under it was a man. He raised his head, and the Prophet ﷺ said to him: "Ugly is the face." He said: O Muhammad, why do you use obscene language against me? The Prophet ﷺ said to him: "I have hidden something for you. Tell me what it is?" And he said to his companions: Indeed I have hidden for him Surat al-Dukhan. He said: "Dukh." The Prophet ﷺ said to him: "Be off! What Allah wills happens." Then he left.
