✧ Lineage of Ruqanah bin Abdullah Yazid bin Hashim bin Muttalib bin Abdimanaf bin Qusayy bin Kilaab bin Murrah bin Kaab bin Luayy bin Ghalib bin Fehr, and his mother is the daughter of al-Ajlan, from the tribe of Saad bin Layth bin Bakr bin Kinanah. It is said that he lived until the time of Uthman bin Affan.

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ قَالَا ثنا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَلَاءِ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رَبِيعَةَ الْكِلَابِيُّ قَالَ
لَقِيتُ رَجُلًا بِمَكَّةَ مِنْ أَهْلِ عَسْقَلَانَ يُقَالُ لَهُ أَبُو الْحَسَنِ فَحَدَّثَنِي عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ عَنِ ابْنِ رُكَانَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ أَنَّ رُكَانَةَ صَارَعَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَصَرَعَهُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ قَالَ رُكَانَةُ سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يَقُولُ «فَرْقُ مَا بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ الْعَمَائِمُ عَلَى الْقَلَانِسِ»

✧ I met a man in Makkah from the people of 'Asqalan called Abu al-Hasan, and he narrated to me from Abu Ja'far Muhammad b. 'Ali, from Ibn Rukanah, from his father, that Rukanah wrestled with the Prophet ﷺ and the Prophet ﷺ threw him. Rukanah said: I heard the Prophet ﷺ say, “The difference between us and the polytheists is the turbans over the caps.”
