حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ خَالِدٍ الْحَرَّانِيُّ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ثنا زُهَيْرٌ ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ خُثَيْمٍ حَدَّثَنِي إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ رِفَاعَةَ بْنِ رَافِعٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عُبَيْدٍ عَنْ رِفَاعَةَ بْنِ رَافِعٍ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ لِعُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ ؓ «اجْمَعْ لِي قَوْمَكَ يَا عُمَرُ» فَجَمَعَهُمْ فَلَمَّا أَنْ حَضَرُوا بَابَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ دَخَلَ عَلَيْهِ عُمَرُ فَقَالَ قَدْ جَمَعْتُ لَكَ قَوْمِي فَسَمِعَ ذَلِكَ الْأَنْصَارُ فَقَالَ قَدْ نَزَلَ فِي قُرَيْشٍ الْوَحْيُ فَجَاءَ الْمُسْتَمِعُ وَالناظرُ مَا يَقُولُ لَهُمْ؟ فَخَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَامَ بَيْنَ أَظْهُرِهِمْ فَقَالَ «هَلْ فِيكُمْ مِنْ غَيْرِكُمْ؟» قَالُوا نَعَمْ فِينَا حَلِيفُنَا وَابْنُ أُخْتِنَا وَمَوْلَانَا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ «حَلِيفُنَا مِنَّا وَابْنُ أُخْتِنَا مِنَّا وَمَوْلَانَا مِنَّا أَنْتُمْ تَسْمَعُونَ إِنَّ أَوْلِيَائِيَ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ الْمُتَّقُونَ فَإِنْ كُنْتُمْ أُولَئِكَ فَذَاكَ وَإِلَّا فَانْظُرُوا لَا يَأْتِ النَّاسُ بِالْأَعْمَالِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ وَتَأْتُونَ بِالْأَثْقَالِ فَيُعْرَضُ عَنْكُمْ» ثُمَّ نَادَى فَقَالَ أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنَّ قُرَيْشًا أَهْلُ أَمَانَةٍ مَنْ بَغَاهُمُ الْغَوَائِرَ أَوِ الْعَوَاثِرَ قَالَ زُهَيْرٌ وَأَظُنُّهَا الْعَوَاثِرَ كَبَّهُ اللهُ لمَنْخِرِهِ قَالَ ذَلِكَ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to ʿUmar b. al-Khaṭṭāb ؓ: “Gather your people for me, O ʿUmar.” So he gathered them. When they had arrived at the door of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, ʿUmar entered upon him and said: “I have gathered my people for you.” The Anṣār heard of that and said: “Revelation has descended concerning Quraysh.” So the listeners and onlookers came to see what he would say to them. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came out and stood among them and said: “Is there anyone among you who is not one of you?” They said: “Yes, among us are our allies, the sons of our sisters, and our freedmen.” The Messenger of Allah said: “Our ally is one of us, the son of our sister is one of us, and our freedman is one of us. You hear: my allies on the Day of Resurrection are the God-fearing. If you are those, then that is so; otherwise, beware lest people come on the Day of Resurrection with good deeds while you come with heavy burdens, and He turns away from you.” Then he called out and said: “O people, Quraysh are people of trustworthiness. Whoever seeks for them the pitfalls or the stumbles—Zuhayr said: I think it is the stumbles—Allah will cast him down on his nostrils.” He said that three times.
