حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ثنا مُسَدَّدٌ ثنا بِشْرُ بْنُ الْمُفَضَّلِ ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ خُثَيْمٍ حَدَّثَنِي إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ رِفَاعَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ جَدِّهِ
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ لِعُمَرَ ؓ «اجْمَعْ قَوْمَكَ» فَجَمَعَهُمْ عِنْدَ بَيْتِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ ثُمَّ دَخَلَ عَلَيْهِ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أُدْخِلُهُمْ عَلَيْكَ أَوْ تَخْرُجُ إِلَيْهِمْ؟ فَقَالَ «لَا بَلْ أَخْرُجُ إِلَيْهِمْ» فَأَتَاهُمْ فَقَامَ عَلَيْهِمْ فَقَالَ «هَلْ فِيكُمْ غَيْرُكُمْ؟» فَقَالُوا نَعَمْ فِينَا حُلَفَاؤُنَا وَفِينَا أَبْنَاءُ إِخْوَتِنَا وَفِينَا مَوَالِينَا فَقَالَ «حَلِيفُنَا مِنَّا وَابْنُ أَخِينَا مِنَّا» قَالَ «أَنْتُمْ تَسْمَعُونَ إِنَّ أَوْلِيَائِيَ مِنْكُمُ الْمُتَّقُونَ فَإِنْ كُنْتُمْ أُولَئِكَ فَذَلِكَ وَإِلَّا فَانْظُرُوا لَا يَأْتِ النَّاسُ بِالْأَعْمَالِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ وَتَأْتُونَ بِأثْقَالٍ فَأَعْرِضُ عَنْكُمْ» ثُمَّ رَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ وَهُوَ قَائِمٌ وَهُمْ قُعُودٌ فَقَالَ «يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنَّ قُرَيْشًا أَهْلُ أَمَانَةٍ وَمَنْ بَغَاهُمْ الْعَوَاثِرَ أَكَبَّهُ اللهُ لِمَنْخِرِهِ» قَالَهَا ثَلَاثًا

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to ʿUmar ؓ: “Gather your people.” So he gathered them at the house of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. Then he entered upon him and said: “O Messenger of Allah, shall I bring them in to you or will you go out to them?” He said: “No, rather I will go out to them.” He came to them and stood over them and said: “Is there anyone among you other than you?” They said: “Yes, among us are our allies, the sons of our brothers, and our freedmen.” He said: “Our ally is one of us and the son of our brother is one of us.” He said: “You hear: my allies among you are the God-fearing. If you are those, then that is so; otherwise, beware lest people come on the Day of Resurrection with good deeds while you come with heavy burdens, and I turn away from you.” Then he raised his hands while standing and they were sitting, and said: “O people, Quraysh are people of trustworthiness. Whoever seeks for them the stumbles, Allah will cast him down on his nostrils.” He said it three times.
