حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ مُوسَى ثنا الْحُمَيْدِيُّ ثنا سُفْيَانُ ثنا الزُّهْرِيُّ

أَخْبَرَنِي عُرْوَةُ بْنُ الزُّبَيْرِ وَسَعِيدُ بْنُ الْمُسَيِّبِ أَنَّهُمَا سَمِعَا حَكِيمَ بْنَ حِزَامٍ يَقُولُ سَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَأَعْطَانِي ثُمَّ سَأَلْتُهُ فَأَعْطَانِي ثُمَّ قَالَ «إِنَّ هَذَا الْمَالَ خَضِرَةٌ حُلْوَةٌ فَمَنْ أَخَذَهُ بِطِيبِ نَفْسٍ بُورِكَ لَهُ فِيهِ وَمَنْ أَخَذَهُ بِإِشْرَافِ نَفْسٍ لَمْ يُبَارَكْ لَهُ فِيهِ وَكَانَ كَالَّذِي يَأْكُلُ وَلَا يَشْبَعُ وَالْيَدُ الْعُلْيَا خَيْرٌ مِنَ الْيَدِ السُّفْلَى»

✧ ʿUrwah b. al-Zubayr and Saʿīd b. al-Musayyib informed me that they heard Ḥakīm b. Ḥizām say: I asked the Messenger of God ﷺ, and he gave me. Then I asked him, and he gave me. Then he said, "This wealth is green and sweet. Whoever takes it with a good soul will be blessed in it, and whoever takes it with eager desire will not be blessed in it, and he will be like one who eats but never becomes full. The upper hand is better than the lower hand."
