حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ رِشْدِينَ حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ ثنا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ أَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ الْحَارِثِ عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ أَنَّ عَامِرَ بْنَ وَاثِلَةَ حَدَّثَهُ عَنْ حُذَيْفَةَ بْنِ أُسَيْدٍ قَالَ
سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ إِذَا مَرَّ بِالنُّطْفَةِ ثِنْتَانِ وَأَرْبَعُونَ لَيْلَةً بَعَثَ اللهُ إِلَيْهَا مَلَكًا فَصَوَّرَهَا وَخَلَقَ سَمْعَهَا وَبَصَرَهَا وَجِلْدَهَا وَلَحْمَهَا وَعَظْمَهَا وَقَالَ يَا رَبِّ أَذَكَرٌ أَمْ أُنْثَى؟ فَيَقْضِي رَبُّكَ مَا شَاءَ وَيَكْتُبُ الْمَلَكُ ثُمَّ يَقُولُ رِزْقُهُ؟ فَيَقْضِي رَبُّكَ مَا شَاءَ وَيَكْتُبُ الْمَلَكُ وَالصَّحِيفَةُ فِي يَدِهِ فَلَا يَزِيدُ عَلَى مَا أُمِرَ وَلَا يُنْقِصُ

✧ I heard the Messenger of God ﷺ saying: "When forty-two nights pass over the drop, God sends an angel to it, who forms it and creates its hearing, sight, skin, flesh, and bones. And he says: O Lord, male or female? Your Lord decrees what He wills, and the angel writes. Then he says: What is its provision? Your Lord decrees what He wills, and the angel writes. And the page is in his hand, so he does not add to what he was commanded or subtract from it."
