حَدَّثَنَا الْمِقْدَامُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ ثنا النَّضْرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْجَبَّارِ ثنا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ الْمَكِّيِّ أَنَّ أَبَا الطُّفَيْلِ الْبَكْرِيَّ أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ ابْنَ مَسْعُودٍ يَقُولُ إِنَّ الشَّقِيَّ مَنْ شَقِيَ فِي بَطْنِ أُمِّهِ وَالسَّعِيدَ مَنْ وُعِظَ بِغَيْرِهِ فَقُلْتُ لَهُ كَيْفَ يَشْقَى مَنْ لَمْ يَعْمَلْ؟ فَلَقِيتُ حُذَيْفَةَ بْنَ أُسَيْدٍ فَأَخْبَرْتُهُ بِمَا قَالَ ابْنُ مَسْعُودٍ فَقَالَ لِي
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِنَّ اللهَ ﷻ إِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَخْلُقَ الْعَبْدَ قَالَ الْمَلَكُ يَا رَبِّ أَذَكَرٌ أَمْ أُنْثَى؟ فَيَقُولُ الرَّبُّ مَا شَاءَ فَيَكْتُبُ الْمَلَكُ ثُمَّ يَقُولُ الْمَلَكُ يَا رَبِّ أَشَقِيٌّ أَمْ سَعِيدٌ؟ فَيَقُولُ الرَّبُّ مَا شَاءَ وَيَكْتُبُ الْمَلَكُ ثُمَّ يَقُولُ يَا رَبِّ مَا هُوَ لَاقٍ؟ فَيَقُولُ الرَّبُّ مَا شَاءَ وَيَكْتُبُ الْمَلَكُ ثُمَّ يَقُولُ الْمَلَكُ مَا رِزْقُهُ؟ فَيَقُولُ اللهُ مَا شَاءَ وَيَكْتُبُ الْمَلَكُ ثُمَّ يَقُولُ يَا رَبِّ مَا أَجَلُهُ؟ فَيَقُولُ الرَّبُّ مَا شَاءَ وَيَكْتُبُ الْمَلَكُ

✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ said: "When God ﷻ wills to create the servant, the angel says: O Lord, male or female? The Lord says what He wills, and the angel writes. Then the angel says: O Lord, wretched or fortunate? The Lord says what He wills, and the angel writes. Then he says: O Lord, what will it meet? The Lord says what He wills, and the angel writes. Then the angel says: What is its provision? God says what He wills, and the angel writes. Then he says: O Lord, what is its term? The Lord says what He wills, and the angel writes."
