حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ مُوسَى ثنا الْحُمَيْدِيُّ ثنا سُفْيَانُ ثنا عَمْرُو بْنُ دِينَارٍ عَنْ أَبِي الطُّفَيْلِ عَنْ حُذَيْفَةَ بْنِ أَسِيدٍ

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ يَدْخُلُ الْمَلَكُ عَلَى النُّطْفَةِ بَعْدَمَا تَسْتَقِرُّ فِي الرَّحِمِ أَرْبَعِينَ أَوْ خَمْسًا وَأَرْبَعِينَ لَيْلَةً فَيَقُولُ أَيْ رَبِّ أَشَقِيٌّ أَمْ سَعِيدٌ؟ فَيَقُولُ اللهُ ﷻ وَيَكْتُبانِ أَذَكَرٌ أَمْ أُنْثَى؟ فَيَقُولُ اللهُ وَيَكْتُبَانِ مُصِيبَتَهُ وَأَثَرَهُ وَرِزْقَهُ وَأَجَلَهُ ثُمَّ تُطْوَى الصَّحِيفَةُ فَلَا يُزَادُ فِيهَا أَوْ يُنْقَصُ مِنْهَا

Translation

✧ From the Prophet ﷺ, he said: "The angel enters upon the drop after it settles in the womb for forty or forty-five nights and says: O Lord, wretched or fortunate? So God ﷻ says, and they both write. Male or female? So God says, and they both write. Its afflictions, its character, its provision, and its term. Then the page is folded, and nothing is added to it or subtracted from it."
