حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ الْجَرْمِيُّ ثنا أَبُو تُمَيْلَةَ ثنا عِيسَى بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ الْكِنْدِيُّ عَنِ الرَّبِيعِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو الْعَالِيَةِ عَنْ أُبَيِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ رَحِمَهُ اللهُ قَالَ
أُصِيبَ يَوْمَ أُحُدٍ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ أَرْبَعَةٌ وَسِتُّونَ وَأُصِيبَ مِنَ الْمُهَاجِرِينَ سِتَّةٌ فِيهِمْ حَمْزَةُ ؓ فَمَثَّلُوا بِقَتْلَاهُمْ فَقَالَتِ الْأَنْصَارُ لَئِنْ أَصَبْنَا مِنْهُمْ يَوْمًا مِنَ الدَّهْرِ لَنُرْبِيَنَّ عَلَيْهِمْ فَلَمَّا كَانَ يَوْمُ فَتْحُ مَكَّةَ نَادَى رَجُلٌ لَا يُعْرَفُ يَقُولُ لَا قُرَيْشَ بَعْدَ الْيَوْمِ وَأَنْزَلَ اللهُ ﷻ عَلَى نَبِيِّهِ ﷺ {وَإِنْ عَاقَبْتُمْ فَعَاقِبُوا بِمِثْلِ مَا عُوقِبْتُمْ بِهِ وَلَئِنْ صَبَرْتُمْ لَهُوَ خَيْرٌ لِلصَّابِرِينَ} فَقَالَ نَبِيُّ اللهِ ﷺ «كُفُّوا عَنِ الْقَوْمِ»

✧ On the day of Uhud, sixty-four of the Ansar were killed and six of the Muhajirun, among them Hamzah ؓ. They mutilated their dead. The Ansar said, "If we ever defeat them one day, we will surpass them." When it was the day of the conquest of Makkah, a man whose identity is unknown called out, "No Quraysh after today." Then Allah, exalted is He, revealed to His Prophet ﷺ: {And if you punish, then punish with the like of that with which you were afflicted. But if you are patient, it is better for the patient.} The Prophet of Allah ﷺ said, "Refrain from the people."
