حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الصَّائِغُ حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ كَاسِبٍ ثنا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ حَمْزَةَ عَنْ كَثِيرِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ عَنِ الْمُطَّلِبِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ حَنْطَبٍ قَالَ لَمَّا أُحِيطَ بِالْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ قَالَ

مَا اسْمُ هَذِهِ الْأَرْضِ؟ قِيلَ كَرْبَلَاءُ فَقَالَ صَدَقَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «إِنَّهَا أَرْضُ كَرْبٍ وَبَلَاءٍ»

✧ He said: “What is the name of this land?” It was said: “Karbala.” Then he said: “The Prophet ﷺ spoke the truth: ‘It is the land of distress and affliction.’”
