حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ النَّضْرِ الْعَسْكَرِيُّ ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ النُّعْمَانِ الْفَرَّاءُ الْمِصِّيصِيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ الْحَاطِبِيُّ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ الْجُهَنِيِّ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ
صَعِدَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ الْمِنْبَرَ يَوْمَ غَزْوَةِ تَبُوكَ فَحَمِدَ اللهَ وَأَثْنَى عَلَيْهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ «أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنِّي وَاللهِ» مَا آمُرُكُمْ إِلَّا بِمَا أَمَرَكُمُ اللهُ بِهِ وَلَا أَنْهَاكُمْ إِلَّا عَمَّا نَهَاكُمُ اللهُ عَنْهُ فَأَجْمِلُوا فِي الطَّلَبِ فَوَالَّذِي نَفْسُ أَبِي الْقَاسِمِ بِيَدِهِ إِنَّ أَحَدَكُمْ لَيَطْلُبُهُ رِزْقُهُ كَمَا يَطْلُبُهُ أَجَلُهُ فَإِنْ تَعَسَّرَ عَلَيْكُمْ شَيْءٌ مِنْهُ فَاطْلُبُوهُ بِطَاعَةِ اللهِ ﷻ

✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ ascended the pulpit on the day of the expedition of Tabuk, praised God and extolled Him, then said, “O people, by God, I do not command you except with what God has commanded you, nor do I forbid you except from what God has forbidden you. So be moderate in seeking; for by the One in whose hand is the soul of Abu al-Qasim, one of you is sought by his provision just as he is sought by his appointed term. If any of it becomes difficult for you, then seek it through obedience to God, exalted is He.”
