✧ Umm Sulaym gave birth to a boy. He fell ill, his illness worsened, then he died while Abu Talha was with the Prophet ﷺ. Abu Talha left him after praying Maghrib. Umm Sulaym had wrapped him up and placed him in a corner of her house. Abu Talha went toward him. She said, 'I adjure you by my right not to approach him, for he has not been better since he fell ill than he is tonight.' She brought his evening meal close, and he broke his fast. Then she took perfume and put it on herself, then she drew near to Abu Talha and he had relations with her. She said, 'O Abu Talha, suppose you saw neighbors who lent their neighbors something on loan, until they thought they had given it to them permanently. When they asked for it back, they felt resentment.' He said, 'They did badly.' She said, 'Allah lent you so-and-so, then He took him back from you, and He is more entitled to him.' He went to the Prophet ﷺ in the morning and told him the news. He said, 'O Allah, bless them in their night.' She conceived Abdullah b. Abi Talha and gave birth to him at the end of the night. She said, 'Do not disturb him until morning.' When morning came, she washed him and wrapped him, then called Anas and said, 'My son, take your brother to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.' Anas said, 'I went carrying him. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was standing in a waist-wrapper with a spade in his hand. He said, "O Anas, what is this with you?" I said, "My brother, O Messenger of Allah." He said, "Hand him to me." I handed him to him. He called for dates, chewed them, then placed them in his mouth. The infant smacked his lips, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ smiled and said, "The Ansar love dates."'
