حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَيُّوبَ صَاحِبُ الْمَغَازِي ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ عَنْ أُمِّ عِيسَى عَنْ أُمِّ جَعْفَرٍ بِنْتِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ عَنْ جَدَّتِهَا أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ عُمَيْسٍ قَالَتْ

لَمَّا أُصِيبَ جَعْفَرٌ وَأَصْحَابُهُ دَخَلَ عَلِيَّ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَقَدْ عَجَنْتُ عَجِينَهُمْ وَغَسَلَتُ بَنِيَّ وَدَهَنْتُهُمْ وَنَظَّفْتُهُمْ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «ائْتِينِي بِبَنِي جَعْفَرٍ» قَالَتْ فَأَتَيْتُهُ بِهِمْ فَشَمَّهُمْ وَذَرَفَتْ عَيْنَاهُ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ بِأَبِي وَأُمِّي مَا يُبْكِيكَ؟ أَبَلَغَكَ شَيْءٌ عَنْ جَعْفَرٍ وَأَصْحَابِهِ؟ قَالَ «نَعَمْ أُصِيبُوا هَذَا الْيَوْمَ» قَالَتْ فَقُمْتُ أَصِيحُ وَاجْتَمَعَ إِلَى النِّسَاءِ وَخَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِلَى أَهْلِهِ فَقَالَ «لَا تُغْفِلُوا آلَ جَعْفَرٍ مِنْ أَنْ تَصْنَعُوا لَهُمْ طَعَامًا فَإِنَّهُمْ قَدْ شُغِلُوا بِأَمْرِ صَاحِبِهِمْ»

✧ When Ja'far and his companions were killed, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to me while I had kneaded their dough, washed my sons, oiled them, and cleaned them. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Bring me the sons of Ja'far." I brought them to him, and he smelled them and his eyes shed tears. I said, "O Messenger of Allah, may my father and mother be your ransom, what makes you weep? Has something reached you about Ja'far and his companions?" He said, "Yes, they were killed today." I stood up crying, and the women gathered around me. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ went out to his family and said, "Do not neglect the family of Ja'far; prepare food for them, for they are occupied with the affair of their companion."
